Antibiotics, importance and use
The scientific bid of the College of Science continues, as the Department of Biophysics, under the supervision of the Faculty Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Hiyam Adel Al-Taii, held a scientific workshop entitled "Antibiotics ... Importance and Use" on Thursday evening 15 April 2021, an electronic scientific workshop given by Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Zaki Al-Haso.
The workshop dealt with an introduction to antibiotics, their importance and role in treating bacterial infections and their epidemics, mechanisms of action of antibiotics and the structures that target them in the bacterial cell, as well as the problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics and what they represent of a global threat facing the use of antibiotics therapeutically with the increasing spread of strains with Multiple resistance
and the most important resistance mechanisms used by bacteria, the role of wrong practices, uncontrolled use of antibiotics, and the role of veterinary drugs in increasing the spread of bacterial resistance to antibiotics was also addressed. The importance of community awareness of rationalizing and restricting the use of antibiotics was also emphasized. The workshop was attended by a large number of specialists and others from various Iraqi governorates as well as from some Arab sister countries.
